The wife of Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), Dorothy McAuliffe, confirmed yesterday that she is considering challenging second term Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-McLean). Jennifer Wexton, who party leaders recruited into the campaign, former Fairfax County Education Association president Kimberly Adams, Iraq War veteran Dan Helmer, and former Obama Veteran Administration official Lindsey Davis Stover. Rep. Comstock was re-elected, 53-47%, last November in a campaign that saw the two major party candidates spend a combined $8 million. Outside expenditures added several more million dollars, and became the top US House campaign to draw independent money. The Comstock victory was impressive in that President Trump ran a full ten points behind Hillary Clinton in the suburban Washington, DC district.
