Minnesota Rep. Tim Walz (D-Mankato) is apparently more seriously leaning toward running for Governor. After escaping a close re-election (50.3 – 49.6%) in a district that President Trump carried by almost 15 points, speculation began building that Mr. Walz would hop into the open 2018 Governor’s race. He is now making statements that he is “actively considering” running statewide. Gov. Mark Dayton (D) is ineligible to seek a third term. The 1st District will be highly competitive if Rep. Walz vacates the House seat for the statewide campaign.
