Marist College just ran a new statewide poll testing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), and found him to be in relatively strong shape as he builds a run for a third term. The poll (6/6-10; 839 NY adults; 703 registered voters) tested the Governor against four relatively well-known Republicans including Donald Trump Jr. and Cuomo’s last two statewide opponents. In all scenarios, the Governor averages near 59% of the vote with none of the Republicans even reaching 28 percent. Mr. Cuomo’s job approval score is slightly upside down, however. Those saying his job performance has been excellent (13%) or good (34%) totals 43%, while the number of respondents feeling he is only a fair (30%) or poor (18%) Governor reaches 48 percent.
