Former State Department official Vince Juaristi (D), who runs a technology consulting firm in Virginia, is apparently considering returning to his native Nevada to run for Governor. Juaristi, also an author of several books about the Basque culture, says several leading Nevada Democrats are attempting to persuade him to run. Democrats already have Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak as an announced candidate. Another Clark County Commissioner, Chris Giunchigliani (D) is also considering the gubernatorial race. Republican Attorney General Adam Laxalt appears to the be leading candidate in his party, but is likely to get a primary challenge from state Treasurer Dan Schwartz. Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) is ineligible to seek a third term.
