Though Attorney General Adam Laxalt (R) is not yet an official gubernatorial candidate, the first major poll for the upcoming open race finds him to be the leading contender. According to a just-released Remington Research automated poll (5/23-24; 1,021 NV likely general election voters), Mr. Laxalt has a relatively strong 46-37% lead over Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak (D) who is projected to be one of the stronger potential Democratic candidates. This campaign will take some time to develop, as potential candidates are slow to move forward. Two-term Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) is ineligible to seek re-election.
