Within the past two months, state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R), who forced Sen. Thad Cochran (R) into a 2014 election run-off, was suggesting that he might return to challenge Sen. Roger Wicker (R) next year. Though the poll was taken in late April, Sen. Wicker’s campaign is choosing the current time period to release their favorable data. Public Opinion Strategies conducted a survey for the Wicker campaign (4/22-25; 500 MS likely Republican primary voters) and found the Senator holding a 25-point lead over McDaniel among GOP voters, 55-30%. The current release of a month-old poll suggests that the Wicker operation must have information indicating McDaniel is moving closer to a decision about the upcoming Senate race.
