Former Michigan state Supreme Court Judge Robert Young will reportedly announce his challenge to Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D) possibly as early as next week. Judge Young was tabbed a Republican recruitment candidate, so his entry into the race should improve the Wolverine State’s position on the GOP target list. Serving on the state high court for almost 20 years and winning several statewide confirmation elections, Judge Young has the resume to be viable candidate while Republicans hope the fact that he is African American will help the party standing in predominantly black Detroit.
