Yesterday, in a news interview, three-term Rep. John Delaney (D-Potomac) confirmed that he is “absolutely considering” challenging Gov. Larry Hogan (R) next year. Though Mr. Hogan has the second best approval ratings of any Governor in the country, solidly Democratic Maryland seldom elects a statewide Republican. Attorney and former University of Maryland Regent Jim Shea is so far the only announced Democratic candidate. Those considering running for Governor include ex-Attorney General Doug Gansler (D), Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamentetz (D), and former Howard County Executive Ken Ullman (D).
