Ex-Iowa Democratic Party chairman John Norris is the latest to enter the Governor’s race. He hopes to oppose new Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds who assumed her position just over ten days ago when Gov. Terry Branstad (R) was confirmed as the new US Ambassador to China. Mr. Norris is also a former chief of staff to ex-Gov. Tom Vilsack (D). Seven other Democrats have already announced their gubernatorial candidacies, including state Sen. Nate Boulton, state Rep. Todd Prichard, and former state Democratic Party chair Andy McGuire. It is unclear as to whether Gov. Reynolds will have a clear path to the Republican nomination.
