Former Acting US Attorney General Sally Yates (D), who President Trump fired for defying his travel ban Executive Order, yesterday quelled speculation that she would enter the open Georgia Governor’s race next year. Her announcement was unequivocal that she will not run for Governor or be a candidate for any other office. At this point, only state House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams is an announced Democratic gubernatorial candidate. Gov. Nathan Deal (R) is ineligible to seek a third term. Republicans will have a large primary field of candidates.
