With early voting already underway for the much anticipated northern Georgia special congressional election, Atlanta’s WSB-TV news directors commissioned a new Landmark Communications survey (5/30-31; 500 GA-6 likely voters). The pollsters again find a dead heat contest between former Secretary of State Karen Handel (R) and investigative filmmaker Jon Ossoff (D). The ballot test gives Mr. Ossoff a slight 48-47% edge, but with a polling error factor over 4 percentage points. As has been the case here for weeks, it appears certain that whichever party does the better job of getting their voters to the polls will win this race. With early voting beginning right after Memorial Day, more than 24,000 people have reportedly already cast their ballots. Another turnout approaching regular mid-term election levels is expected.
