GA-6: New Data

4/14/2017

After a respite from seeing polls coming from the GA-6 special election, we now have new data.  According to the ad hoc RHH Elections group – self-described as being organized by eight unnamed lobbyists – not too much has changed in the district since we examined the last released polled several weeks ago.  The RHH survey, like the others containing methodological flaws, finds Democrat Jon Ossoff leading the race by a substantial margin, but not enough for him to clinch the race outright in the jungle primary.  RHH finds Ossoff with 39%, followed by former Secretary of State Karen Handel, businessman Bob Gray, former state Senator Dan Moody, and state Sen. Judson Hill, all Republicans, hovering between 10 and 15 percent preference.

Therefore, when voting begins next Tuesday, it appears Ossoff will secure the first run-off position, with a dogfight transpiring for second place.  The top two finishers will advance to a June 20th run-off election.  Getting Ossoff in a one-on-one confrontation will greatly benefit the Republicans’ ability to hold the seat.
