The first leg of the long special election to replace Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price in the US House is held today. Eighteen candidates are on the ballot, with the top two advancing to a June 20th special general election assuming no one receives an absolute majority today. Democrat Jon Ossoff is the favorite to place first, and could score in the low 40 percentile range. Republicans are bunched together near the 20% mark. Former Secretary of State Karen Handel, businessman and local city councilman Bob Gray, former state Sen. Dan Moody, and state Sen. Judson Hill are all competitive for the second position. The polls will close tonight at 7:00 pm EDT.
