Florida:  More Polling

4/4/2017

Already, the impending Sunshine State Senate race, presumably between Sen. Bill Nelson (D) and Gov. Rick Scott (R), has been the most surveyed new campaign in the 2018 cycle.  Yesterday, two more studies were released into the public domain.  The first, from GOP pollster Public Opinion Strategies (3/1-5; 600 FL registered voters), though taken a month ago, finds Sen. Nelson and Gov. Scott locked in a virtual tie.  According to these results, Mr. Nelson has a scant 46-44% edge.

But Republican pollster Gravis Marketing, in a more current survey (3/28-29; 1,453 registered voters via automated telephonic device), finds Sen. Nelson holding a more substantial 52-37% advantage.

The POS poll is much closer to the others previously conducted, which all find Nelson holding a five or six point lead, and below 50% in all configurations.   The Gravis poll is clearly more current, but conducted with automated devices as opposed to live interviewers.  Therefore, both have their negative points.
