Former Interior Secretary Ken Salazar (D) retired from the Obama Administration cabinet at the beginning of the President’s second term. Prior to accepting the federal appointment, Mr. Salazar served in the US Senate and as Colorado Attorney General. He now confirms considering entering the 2018 open Governor’s campaign and will decide within the next few weeks. Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) is ineligible to seek a third term. Also considering is Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Golden). Republicans are expected to mount a strong challenge in this swing Rocky Mountain state and the 2018 race will be highly competitive.
