Stories are beginning to surface that suggest former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) is considering running for the Senate next year. Such a campaign is highly doubtful to occur. First, Mr. Schwarzenegger left office with very low favorability ratings. Second, California has moved even more leftward since he was elected Governor in a 2003 re-call election, and then to a full term in 2006. It is now highly unlikely that any Republican can win a California statewide race. And, third, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D) says she is likely to seek re-election meaning an even more difficult path lies before Schwarzenegger, or any other Republican, to convert this seat.
