Armed with support from the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democratic Party, including Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, University of California at Irvine law professor Katie Porter (D) announced that she will challenge Rep. Mimi Walters (R-Irvine) next year. The Democrats are encouraged that Hillary Clinton carried this typically Republican district with a 50-44% margin in the November election.
