Democrats have recruited a credible challenger against House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence chairman Devin Nunes (R-Tulare/Fresno County). Attempting to take advantage for what they consider is negative publicity for Nunes’ handling of the alleged Russian election involvement investigation, Fresno County Assistant District Attorney Andrew Janz (D) made statements yesterday indicating that he will run for Congress next year. The 22nd District is a safe Republican Central Valley district, and Mr. Nunes has averaged over 72% of the vote in his eight congressional elections. While Democrats will try to create trouble for Rep. Nunes little will likely come from the challenge, as the Congressman remains a prohibitive favorite for re-election.
