Amid all of the political activity surrounding the new Senate special election, Democrats have been very quiet. Yesterday, state Rep. Craig Ford (D-Gadsden) said he will not enter the Senate race, but remains open to a gubernatorial campaign. Mr. Ford was first elected to the state House in 2000, succeeding his father who represented the district for 26 years. The current Representative served three terms as the House Minority Leader. Democrats have only marijuana legalization activist and 2016 Senate nominee Ron Crumpler as an announced special election candidate. The candidate filing deadline is May 17th.
