Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) is getting some good and bad news regarding his US Senate quest. First, from the positive perspective, US Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Anniston) just endorsed his congressional colleague for the Senate over appointed incumbent Luther Strange (R). On the other end of the spectrum, Rep. Brooks now has one Republican and three Democratic opponents for his 2018 re-election effort. Therefore, should Mr. Brooks be unsuccessful in the Senate race he will immediately be forced to return to north Alabama and defend his House seat against multiple challengers. Of course, if Brooks unseats Sen. Strange, then these new challenger candidates are well positioned should the 5th District seat come open in a special election.
