Attorney General George Jepsen (D), who said he doesn’t want to go through the “misery” of running a campaign for Governor, will not enter the open statewide contest next year. Already six Democrats, including the state Comptroller and two Mayors, are in the gubernatorial field. For the Republicans, nine individuals have already declared for Governor, including an additional two Mayors and several state legislators. Democrats will be favored to hold the position. Gov. Dan Malloy (D) is not seeking re-election to a third term.
