Rep. Bruce Poliquin is seeking re-election in Maine's 2nd Congressional District.
Poliquin grew up in central Maine, and after graduating from Harvard moved to Chicago and then New York City for business. For 35 years, he managed businesses that “created hundreds of jobs” and managed “$5 billion of worker pension funds for clients such as Bath Iron Works and International Paper.” This was done at Avatar Investors Associates Corporation.
In 2010 Poliquin was elected to be the State Treasurer. While the Treasurer, he reformed state workers’ pension plan, lead efforts to reduce the cost of affordable housing, reduced wasteful spending, and ensured the retention of the state’s Aa2 bond rating.
Poliquin's Campaign Website states:
"Less government spending and borrowing will allow taxes to be cut. Eliminating unnecessary regulations will make it less complicated and costly to start and run a business."
