This endorsement was for the November 5, 2013, special election to replace Rep. Jo Bonner (R).

Prior to his special election victory, Bradley Byrne (R) was a business attorney and former state legislator and was tasked as CEO of the state’s two year college system with reforming the system and restructuring its financial underpinnings.

He faced businessman Dean Young (R) in the GOP runoff.  Byrne was supported by BIPAC, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, immediate former Rep. Jo Bonner (R), and members of the business community.  BIPAC’s state deployment partner, Manufacture Alabama also supports Bradley Byrne.

Bryne won the general election with over 68% of the vote against his Democratic challenger
Burton LeFlore.

Paul DeMarco
Lost in the Primary Runoff

State Rep. Paul DeMarco ran in the open seat vacated by Rep. Spencer Bachus (R) and lost in a runoff with Gary Palmer, Alabama Policy Institute co-founder.

Palmer was endorsed by the Club for Growth.  DeMarco had an average rating of 95% from the Alabama NFIB, showing his commitment to the business community.

Gary Palmer (R) was declared the general election winner in the race for the 6th Congressional District of Alabama, which encompasses the Birmingham suburbs. This is a safe Republican district and the winner of this election was essentially decided in the Republican primary election.

Mr. Palmer has a background in conservative policy and received the support of many prominent social conservatives in his primary election, including former Senator Rick Santorum. While Palmer was endorsed by Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, he’s also said he believes Speaker Boehner has “lost his legitimacy.”

Primary Runoff Results
G Palmer         63.5%        47,491
P DeMarco      36.5%        27,295
