Veteran US Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) reiterated that he is likely to seek an eighth term next year, and his actions so far support these words. The Senator’s first quarter fundraising support will show over $1.5 million raised with more than $3.5 million in the bank. These strong financial numbers suggest a candidate committed to seeking re-election, and not one mulling retirement. Sen. Hatch was first elected in 1976, and is the second longest-serving Republican in US history behind only South Carolina’s late Sen. Strom Thurmond.
