Y2 Analytics conducted the first poll (4/22-27; 445 UT-3 likely Republican primary voters) in retiring Rep. Jason Chaffetz’s (R-Alpine/Sandy) district. Utah Valley University president Matt Holland, should he enter the congressional race, has the highest favorability rating of those tested (79% positive) and would lead a potential Republican primary. Mr. Holland would score 38% preference in a multi-candidate field. Former Independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin, and a fierce critic of President Trump, was second with 27%, followed by state House Speaker Greg Hughes with 10% support. None of the aforementioned has yet announced their candidacies.
