It appears the final unofficial result from last night Republican run-off election, according to the South Carolina State Election Commission, gives former state Rep. Ralph Norman a 221 vote edge over state House Speaker Pro Tempore Tommy Pope. The margin translates into 50.3% of the vote for Norman from 35,375 cast ballots. Since the margin of victory is less than one full percentage point, a recount is automatically ordered. Once the result becomes official and certified, the winner, presumably Mr. Norman, will face former Wall Street executive Archie Parnell (D) in the June 20th special general election.
