In November, veteran Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Detroit Lakes/northwestern Minnesota) scored only a 52-48% win over Republican David Hughes even though the latter did little more than place his name on the ballot. Mr. Hughes is running for real this time, but now has competition for the GOP nomination. State Rep. Tim Miller (R) announced his congressional campaign late last week, so this race should move up the GOP target list. The district is Republican in nature, but Rep. Peterson has held the seat for the Democrats since his original election in 1990.
