Indications are now strong that Rep. John Delaney (D-Potomac) will enter the gubernatorial contest, and likely become the leading Democrat to eventually oppose Gov. Larry Hogan Jr. (R). While Gov. Hogan currently enjoys very high approval ratings – second in the nation according to the latest national surveys – Maryland is one of the most reliable of Democratic states, and the Governor’s campaign will be a competitive one, regardless of the incumbent’s popularity.
