Ex-state Sen. Jason Carter (D), the grandson of former President Jimmy Carter and his party’s 2014 gubernatorial nominee, announced he will not run for Governor next year. Mr. Carter says he is keeping the door open for future campaigns, and says he is comfortable and supportive of potential Democratic gubernatorial candidates Stacey Abrams, the state House Minority Leader, and state Rep. Stacey Evans. Mr. Carter lost to Gov. Nathan Deal (R), 53-45%, three years ago.
