Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez (D) is the favorite to advance, and will likely finish first. Former LA City Council aide Sara Hernandez, ex-Obama White House aide Alejandra Campoverdi, and LA Planning Commissioner Robert Lee Ahn appear to be the most competitive candidates outside of Mr. Gomez’s effort. All are Democrats. Republicans have just one candidate who is not competitive.
A low turnout is expected in this inner city seat that has a long history of small voter participation rates.
