Veteran at-large Alaska Congressman Don Young (R-Ft. Yukon), second in House seniority only to Michigan Rep. John Conyers (D-Detroit), announced that he will seek a 24th term in the House next year. Mr. Young was first elected in a 1973 special election after incumbent Rep. Nick Begich (D) was killed in a plane crash. Only four people have represented Alaska in the House since the territory became a state in 1959.
