The BIPAC Action Fund announced its endorsement of Peter Roskam for his re-election campaign in the U.S. House of Representatives for Illinois' 6th congressional district on January 31, 2018.
Roskam has been a leading advocate for business issues and especially for tax reform. As Chairman of the Tax Policy Subcommittee, and tax reform enacted for the first time in over three decades, he has shown the leadership and work ethic needed in Congress to produce pro-prosperity policies. His Illinois 6th district has been considered a toss-up for the past several election cycles.
In 2016, Sec. Hillary Clinton won the district with 50% of the vote, Gov. Mitt Romney won in 2012 with 53%, and President Barack Obama won in 2008 with 51% of the vote.
This race will be one of the most expensive in the country due to its location in the Chicago suburbs and importance to both political parties. That is why it is important to show support from the business community to Rep. Roskam for his work on the issues that will grow our economy and improve the business climate in our country.
Roskam graduated from the University of Illinois before spending his early career in the office of his mentor, legendary Congressman Henry Hyde. He later earned his J.D. from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and began a law practice where he developed significant experience as a litigator. Roskam has represented Chicago’s western suburbs in both the Illinois House of Representatives and Senate.
